Description of Motive
Mother Teresa is a Catholic nun, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize and a Catholic Saint. She was born in Skopje on August 26, 1910 as Gonxha Agnes Bojaxhiu.
At the age of 18, driven by the desire to become a missionary, Gonxha left her home and hometown of Skopje to join the Loreto Sisters in Dublin, Ireland. There, he chose the name Teresa and after a short time in 1928 went to Bengal and Calcutta in India. In Calcutta for 17 years she has been active as a teacher and then principal at the school “St. Mary’s School “.
Since 1946, Teresa has lived with the poorest in the Calcutta suburbs, dedicated to charity and to help the sick and poor. In Calcutta he formed the Order of Missionaries of Charity and for his charity work in 1979 he received the Nobel Peace Prize.
Mother Teresa died on September 5, 1997 at the age of 87.
Pope Francis proclaimed Mother Teresa a Saint on September 4, 2016.
