Description of Motive

Earrings from Deboj, Ohrid, 3-2nd century BC, Macedonia

The earrings are in the form of a bracelet, which is made from spirally twisted metal wires.

The ring formed in this way narrows at one end and ends with a pyramidal shape of golden granules. The other part of the ring expands conically in the shape of a cup. The cup is made from thin golden sheet.

In this type of earrings, the head is almost always made of a black semi-precious stone. The top of her head is covered with gold foil on which there are spirals marking the curly hair of the depicted character.

This jewelry represented the artistic style of the city of Alexandria in the post-Alexandrian period.

Such earrings were especially popular in the Ohrid region at that time.
