For the Saint

Saint Panteleimon was born around 275 in the city of Nicomedia (modern day Turkey) during the Roman Empire. His name Panteleimon means full of mercy.

According to the traditions of the church, as a boy he first finished Grammar School and then studied medical sciences with the then late doctor Euphrosinos.

At that time when Christians were persecuted in the Roman Empire, Saint Panteleimon became a Christian.

He preached his faith and tried to help people mostly with his medical skills.

During Diacletian’s persecution of Christians, he was imprisoned in Nicomedia and executed in 304.
