Description of Motive
The stone bridge in Skopje is a bridge over the river Vardar, it is also a building declared a cultural heritage of Macedonia and a symbol of the City of Skopje.
The bridge was built under the auspices of Sultan Mehmed II the Conqueror between 1451 and 1469. Throughout its history, the bridge has been repeatedly damaged and repaired.
The stone bridge has been a symbol of connection and communication for centuries, and is a major element in the coat of arms of the City of Skopje.
