Saint Archangel Michael is mentioned already in the Old Testament of the Bible, represented as the commander (leader) of the Lord’s army. Saint Michael the Archangel is among the main angels in the Abrahamic Traditions and it is said that his name was the battle exclamation of the angels in the heavens.
In 1469, the first knightly order, the Order of Saint Michael, was established in France. Saint Archangel Michael, together with Saint George, became the patron saint of chivalry. Still in many Christian societies Saint Michael is considered the patron saint of fighters, policemen and soldiers.
